Courses Q1 2025

Closing date for the initial round of applications is Friday 3 January 2025.

Please read our Course Descriptions first before you apply, to make sure it is the right course for you. In applying for a course place please make sure your ringing experience and ability are in line with the prerequisites for the topic you choose. We relate the skills needed for each course to Learning the Ropes levels, as this is the syllabus we use to teach new ringers at STARS - please see LtR for more information on what this means for each level. If you are overly ambitious, you will probably not get the most benefit from the course. If you are not sure whether you meet the all the prerequisites needed please talk to your Tower Captain or contact us for advice.

Equally  it is important to realise this is a course (learning a new skill, and will include theory as well as ringing) and not a targeted practice (practising something you can already do-ish, but want to be able to do better) If it's more practice you are after, attending one of our targeted practices may be more appropriate.

Course Dates Jan-Mar 2025

Basic Skills   Friday 17 January - St Anne's 7pm

Leading and Covering     Saturday  1 February - Goosnargh  10am

Helpers

Please use the relevant poll in the  STARS WhatsApp Community  to indicate your availability to attend as a helper.

Please Note

Priority booking is given to ringers whose home tower is one of our affiliated towers.

Once the initial closing date for applications has passed we will review all applications received and offer places to the students we feel will benefit most from the course at the current time. If demand for places is greater than the number of places we can offer, we will allocate places  based on our Place Allocation Policy and operate a waiting list system. If your application is unsuccessful we will let you know and add you to the waiting list unless you ask us not to.   You are welcome to apply again when the course runs next time. If there are any remaining places they will be available to any local ringers who may wish to apply via this website.

Cost

We have a small charge for students on courses which enables us to cover the costs of running STARS and the courses we offer, to make a regular donation to the Church towards the  maintenance of the bells we use/contribute to the Church's running costs and allows STARS to make an annual donation to support the work ART do. (We don't charge for the actual tuition, our teachers and helpers give their time for free.) Please contact us for more information.
